My little trick: Hanging a garland!

As promised, I will show you a personal tip for hanging a garland anywhere and everywhere. The truth is when planning and styling a party, there will not always be trees or walls where you need them.

So I came up with an easy solution. I built these posts and I use them all time. I don’t think I could live without them…

Here I used the large posts to hang some adorable garlands over a banquet table for a wedding I styled in September.
(Which I am excited to post more of next week)

We just placed them on either end of the banquet table, then we draped four garlands across the table.

Here is Owen, my little personal assistant. He is just too cute, I had to post him.

These posts are so easy to build. I built two wooden boxes and then placed the poles in the centers. I used a really good wood glue (I like “hard as nails”) to make it sturdy. Make sure the posts are not to tall that they may be top heavy.

I painted my posts ivory, I wanted them to blend in as much as possible with all the other colors that I am using in the decor.

I have glass knobs on the top of each post. I have changed these out many times for different colors and sizes. I feel like they just finish off the garland posts.

I also made a smaller pair. Which I use for small tables or parties. These pictures were taken right after my sons birthday party. We used the small garland posts on the counter, where we had his cake and his fun party things.

The smaller posts are easier to make then the large. I got a few wooden squares and drilled holes in the centers. Then added the dowels and again adding glue to make it stronger. So simple…

I hope this helps some of you the next time you want to add garlands for your next event. They are so easy to make! Please email me if you have any questions and I will love to reply. I just love how garlands add so much character and style to just about everything!
