Natural Napkin Rings:: Thanksgiving

Just a little preview of my Thanksgiving Table that I will be posting about later today!

I made these simple napkin rings out of burlap ribbon, cut the ribbon about 6 inches and hot glued the back… so easy!
Then I glued a wooden flower on the top. I really love them and how they offer texture. I sometimes like to add something that feels like a sculpture to my tables and I got that from these wooden flowers!

I’m sure everyone is getting their plans ready for Thanksgiving… In case you wanted do add these to your table there is enough time to make these.

(I think these are adorable for weddings as well!)

(sorry the pics were snapped by my phone)

Wooden Flowers: I bought them last year on Amazon.com, it looks like they are sold out. They are used for potpourri, so look for that… You could use anything… pine cones or even a little fern twig tied with a velvet knot.
Let me know what you come up with!

A while ago I blogged about My little trick: DIY Fabric Napkins

And I found a really good site for Unique napkin folding just in case you would like to give it a try for Thanksgiving! HERE

As Promised from yesterday’s post: Daily Fresh Flowers 101 Lessons PART I & PART II
DAILY FLOWER TIPS:

-cut stems at a slant every other day to keep them fresh.
-cut off all leaves on the stems that are submerged in the water.
-a florist once told me the leaves can take away the water from the flower itself.
-a little bit of sprite mixed in with the water will keep the flowers extra fresh for longer.
(I do the Sprite thing for my weddings and it really does work)

UPDATE: I said a few days ago that I was going in for sinus surgery, well we had to postpone for 6 weeks due to a “surprise” cold that all of a sudden came on! So I really am here, sickly but I’m here!

Sorry, I feel a little all over the place with this post… but that’s okay right, because I feel a little all over the place in life… Trying to get better, planning the holiday and son’s birthday on Sunday  and fitting in a little DIY in my day, basically sums up my life!

J+S Wedding Part III

Click here if you missed Part I & Part II

As promised I am posting just a few pictures of the wedding reception all lit up. I feel like you can never have a enough candles at a wedding.

I really didn’t mean to stick around for most of the evening. I had plans to go and put my feet up at home while the reception was going on. But Meghan my photographer and myself ended up staying a while and enjoying the evening and having a really good time. I’m glad we did so we could get a few pictures of the wedding at night. We were joking saying that we basically crashed the wedding because we didn’t plan on staying so long. But I think it was allowed for us.

I hope you enjoyed taking a little peek in the J+S Wedding that I just loved being a part of! Thanks for always reading!

My Little Trick: Disposable Fabric Napkins

Have you ever had a party or a wedding and you had to use paper napkins because there was no other option? I am so excited to show you what I came up with! While I was doing our Valentine’s table yesterday. I went to grab my “paper napkins” like I usually do. But I only had white ones and they really didn’t match. I thought to myself how good pink ones would look. So I thought about going to the store and grabbing some pink paper napkins.

But then it dawned on me… I quickly grabbed some pink $1 a yard fabric that I had and used my pinking shears to easily cut big squares. You can get appx: 10-15 napkins out of a yard of fabric. Since they are no sew they can just be tossed away. I will never use paper napkins again for any party that I am doing! See, isn’t your life changed just a little.

“I really am loving the floral patterned fabric used here.”  With the little chalk board place cards…

Look how creative you can get with a simple white napkin.  Here they used a burlap ring with a billy ball yellow flower and a few twigs.

Of course, I had to show off this cute bow napkin style. I will definitely be doing this for my next party! I am excited to hear from you, let me know what you think?

Happy LOVE Day!

Are you doing anything fun and exciting today for Valentine’s Day?

The past few years the husband and I go out for our hot date the weekend before Valentine’s Day. So we can then spend the actual evening in with our little ones.

We always try to have a very nice meal planned. Of course the children help me decorate the table and we bring out all the special things. This is a family tradition we wanted to start because we wanted to spend Valentine’s Day with all of the ones we love. Plus, it’s kinda like a zoo out there…

Thanks everyone for reading my new blog! It has been one month since my first post. I have the best time posting almost daily for you all, I feel like I have been blogging forever!
