Bald Head Island :: The Wedding Part III

I wanted to do a little post with a few candid shots that I was able to get during the Bald Head Island Wedding! The wedding was 2 weeks ago and I am still talking and thinking about it all the time. It honestly was the best wedding to be a part of and it was an honor to be a bridesmaid for my dear friend Anna’s biggest day of her life!

Here is a few random shots through out the day…

(We even had real life “Wedding Crashers”)

Bald Head Island Wedding :: Part II

I can’t stop talking about this past week… I don’t know if it was seeing all my favorite people from high school mixed with an amazing wedding that turned into a perfect week!

The bride Anna did such a great job on the wedding. There was not one detail that was overlooked. Anna even surprised all of the bridal party on the morning of the wedding with matching pink robes with our initials embroidered on them. It was so fun for us all to be matching. The wedding wasn’t until 4:00 in the afternoon. So we all hung out in our pink robes almost all day getting ready with the hair and make-up stylists.

(I am a tad embarrassed with the above photo)

I got to design the hair pieces for the bride and bridal party. I did all of the hair pieces a little different and everyone looked gorgeous.

I knew a lot of the bridal party from growing up in Germany. We went to Hanau American High School and I have not seen many of
my friends for more then ten years. But it felt like we were all together just yesterday.

The bride and groom did a German tradition called “Polterabend.” Where they break plates and the bride and groom have to clean it up symbolizing working together in marriage. It was really exciting. My friend and I filmed the whole thing and I am hoping I can get a hold of it and post it for you soon!

Look how adorable this little chapel is, it was really cute and small. I loved all of the details it had. The wooden beams in the ceiling and the scalloped screen paneling.

Bald Head Island Wedding :: Part II coming on Monday!

My Trip :: Bald Head Island, North Carolina

I have been planning this trip to Bald Head Island for a while now. I was asked by one of my dear friends to be one of her bridesmaids this past weekend. It really was one of my favorite weddings I have ever been too. I hope it’s alright that today’s post isn’t too much on design. I just wanted to post a little about the amazing beach house that we stayed on and about this Island.

All the Bride’s family and bridesmaids stayed in this amazing beach house together. I have known the bride ever since we were three years old when we were neighbors in a little town in Germany, we grew up and went to High School together. I love her family so much and we had the best time in the beach house!

Here is our boardwalk out to the beach. Which believe me we visited quite a bit! It was pretty Amazing!

On this Island I did not see one car, everyone drove around in golf carts. Every house had these small garages to park our golf carts at night. I thought is was so hilarious to drive around with our luggage on our laps. I will say I almost fell off a few times.

I thought I would add this little photo of me and my friends Stephanie and Anna! (bride) You could probably guess which one is me… the curls give it away.

Framing Scarves as Art, Brilliant!

I just got in from my trip to Bald Head Island, NC… I had an amazing time with really great friends. I also brought back loads of photos of inspiring homes and designs that I can’t wait to show you on here. I am trying to organize all of the pictures and will be posting all about it this week! Today I have a quick brilliant idea for you all, I think you will love it!

For the past little while I have been finding all of these amazing silk scarves that have wonderful colors and patterns. I found this really unique silk scarf from Anthropologie with pastels and fun modern style hot air balloons that would be so cute framed on the wall in a child’s room or nursery.

I was so excited to find it on SALE today! for $29.99 I hope some of my readers will quickly grab it up! So adorable…

Coral Wood Carved Coffee Table!

Everyday for months I have had this West Elm Wood Carved Coffee table on my mind! I think that should be a good enough sign that I should get it quick…

As a few of you know I am in the middle of restyling our living room. I am really into the fresh Moroccan style, with whites and light color hues, with a bit of modern.
I am pretty sure I can pull it off!

I think this Wood Carved table will bring a lot of style to the room… but I have a little different plan for it. I want to put a coral ottoman pouf on the top of it. I think it would be really easy because of the slight lip on the side of the table. We could leave the top on for the ottoman or easily remove the ottoman top and have it as the coffee table style! I am very excited to try it out.

I have been on the look out lately for a nice coral fabric. I was so surprised how hard it was to find. I found this amazing Orange cotton tweed fabric for $2 a yard!!

I knew from experience if I dyed it with a Rit Fuchsia dye. It would come up a nice Coral color and it really did!
I found this to be a new way of thinking… I will do a post soon on dyeing fabric to the colors that you want, I have done it so many times, it is so easy!

I found this room designed by Lynn Morgan Designs this morning and they are very close to what I am doing for our living room. Its really eerie how close it is. I even have my striped curtain panels up right now. But mine are a softer thinner stripe more of a bohemian look. I can’t wait to show you soon!

Don’t you love the Coral ottoman? I can’t wait to get mine…

I hope everyone has fun plans for Spring Break this week! I am headed out today to North Carolina to be in my cute friends wedding this weekend. I will be back next week with loads of pictures. It will be a lot of fun, the wedding is on a Island where there are no cars, we have to drive around in little golf carts! So excited and the wedding is going to be perfect!
